Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins announced he’ll be writing an autobiography soon. Since I'm a rock bio junkie I wanted to put together a list of the best rock autobiographies that I've read. Remember autobiography means these guys wrote the book about themselves.

I Am Ozzy – In this book Ozzy Osbourne explains he tattooed smiley faces on his knees so he would have something to look at while going #2.

Does the Noise in My Head Bother You? by Steven Tyler – Steven Tyler explains that he was once smoked kitty litter when he ran out of drugs.

Life by Keith Richards – It’s the inside story of the Rolling Stones. It writes itself.

Slash by Slash – Slash used to get attacked by an army of mini predator looking guys. Heroine had a lot to do with it.

The Dirt by Motley Crue – if you’re into rock bios this should be the last one you read because nothing will be as good after you’ve completed this. It even includes a great story about a groupie, toothbrush, toothpaste, a telephone handset, and a call to the groupie’s mother.
